Sofia Coppola's Paris

This NY Times feature may be from awhile back, but it's content and imagery are timeless.

Director Sofia Coppola, one of my favorite working women in film, gives a tour of the elegantly, ethereal Paris she knows and loves.

“When I shop, it’s not so much about buying. Whether you get something or not, when you go in a store, you see what Paris is like.”

The 48 HFP is Nigh...

The Des Moines chapter of the 48 Hour Film Project kicks of tomorrow and I'm so excited! Once again, I'll be directing with the phenomenal team that is Napkin Sketch.

Be sure to tune into Iowa Public Radio tomorrow morning for an interview we recorded with John Pemble. Not sure what time the piece will air, but will most likely be broadcast in the morning & evening.

In case you haven't seen our entry from last year, here it is!

Boys & Girls

Martin Solveig featuring Dragonette in a tremendously pleasing video for the song, "Boys & Girls".

The legendary Jean-Paul Gautier also makes a cameo, which is only fitting as it was filmed in his Paris headquarters! OOH LA LA.

Pretty in Paper

Imaginative photo spread by the Doberman Agency in partnership with Alexandra Zaharova & Ilya Plotnikov for the July/ August issue of L’Officiel.

The dresses made entirely of paper are impractical, unwearable, yet wildly elegant.

Danny's Birthday Movie

My Birthday Movie is a gorgeous little time-lapsed film by Danny Roberts in which he experiments with Walt Disney's multi-plane camera technique.

Just another one of the many inspiring shorts I've been screening in preparation for Des Moines' 48 Hour Film Fest this weekend!

IN OTHER NEWS, my blog is now feeding into Juice magazine's local blogger section, so if this is your first time here—WELCOME! I like to post things that I find aesthetically pleasing, links to important events, and news on my Etsy shop.

The Experiment

I had the INCREDIBLE opportunity this week to be part of a major motion picture currently shooting in Iowa called The Experiment.

There's no speaking part, but I play an important figure in one of the main character's story line.

Props to Matthew Shwery for taking these fantastic photos on the set. This whole experience was as amazing as it was surreal.

*And I had to include this one of me with the film's star; the lovely Mr. Adrien Brody!

Handmade by CISMO

Surrealist short by São Paulo-based production company, CISMO. Le Sens Propre, from a Best of Week awhile back, was also made by the same group.

There's a lot of movie buzz around the Des Moines Area this month (The Experiment starring Adrien Brody & the forthcoming 48 Hour Film Project), so I've been doing my homework and looking for inspiration all over the place.

If you are in DSM and have any interest in Acting/Assisting/Extra-ing for the 48 Hour Film Project, please email me at sozealous@gmail.com for more info.

Best of the Week Vol. XXV

1. Wall climbing furniture? Impracticable? Never!

2. The Vagaries of Fashion...Ti Amo, Vogue Italia!

3. Anna Sui's Gossip Girl inspired line for Target is as adorable as it is affordable. It truly gives it's runway counterpart a run for the money!

4. Click. GASP. Models - a set on Flickr assembled by K E T S U.

5. The Fall/Winter 2009 Maison Michel lookbook is out featuring incredible photography by Karl Lagerfeld.

6. So, this might be from awhile back but it's new (and still amazing) to me! A look inside the home of Gwyneth Paltrow (from Home & Garden magazine).

Better World Shopper

Better World Shopper is an interesting concept (and book) that I came across last night. It features top ten lists of the globe's best & worst companies based on five key issues: the environment, human rights, animal protection, community involvement, and social justice.

I know it's not easy (or the most affordable) to go entirely "green" in our spending, but imagine the gradual impact we can make by switching from a D+ company to B- one...take a moment to see where your money is going!

Feather earrings have added a whole lot of spice to my summer wardrobe, so I was pleased to find this tutorial on making my own at TheCoveted blog.
