Reading Rainbow

I hesitate to call it a resolution, but one of my goals for 2010 was to read more books. So far, I've finished The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, Bonjour Tristesse by Francoise Sagan, and I am now half-way through I Was Told There'd Be Cake by Sloane Crosley.

I've toyed with the idea of a book feature on this blog, mainly to feature my more interesting thrift finds. Out of print editions, aesthetically pleasing covers, timeless and, at times, hysterical information from years gone past.

Sound like something you'd like to read?

Hearts for Haiti

The devastation from last week's earthquake in Haiti is truly incomprehensible. People coming together financially & through service though is a beautiful reminder of the great good that human beings are capable of.

Hearts for Haiti is an Etsy collective selling donated items with 100% of the proceeds going to relief work, specifically through DoctorsWithoutBorders.

Please check out the full store to read more about the initiate and purchase some of the lovely handmade items just in time for Valentine's day!

Definatalie's Desktop Calendar

We're nearly halfway through the month, but this desktop calendar by Definatalie is definitely worth mentioning (and downloading). I'm already anticipating the backdrop for February!

Her sophisticated, yet snarky, illustrations have popped up on this blog once before, providing some tasty food for thought on one particular Friday.

Walls by Westwood

Iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has teamed up wallpaper manufacturers Cole & Son to create this gorgeous line of wall prints inspired from some of her classic creations.

More than anything, I love the paper restyling to form the dresses in these photographs.

For £55 a roll though, I could shoot for having the most stylish closet in town!

So This is the New Year...

Five days into 2010...so far, so good. No resolutions for me. Just a few things I want to do more of. More books to read. More blogs to post. More Holga pics to take. And to successfully sew a dress from a vintage pattern.

My darling husband & me [31st December 2009].

Let's do this, 2010!
