Greed—The new faux fragrance!

This concept is so interesting to me...In a series of fabricated campaigns, Francesco Vezzoli is releasing a short film directed by Roman Polanski, starring Natalie Portman & Michelle Williams (love!). The clip features a perfume, Greed, and it pokes fun at the hype around perfume advertising.

The actual short film will be released online at the Gagosian Gallery on February 6th. In the mean time, check out the teaser clip and more info on the project here.

R.I.P. Domino Magazine

The rumors are true. March is slated to be the last issue hitting newsstands, according to Mediaweek.

The Domino website will also be discontinued, so be sure to save your Deco Files!

soZealous @ MSMF

Market Street Media Foundry is a new collaborative art and media studio located in Des Moines' East downtown at 118 SE 4th Street. Today was their open house and I had a few pieces on display to help warm the place.

It really is a privilege to have my projects hanging alongside the work of such talented local artists. Thanks to Cat & Scott for including me in their launch!

Check out more photos from the event on Rock Iowa's Flickr.

1st D.I.Y. Night @ Mars Cafe

Despite blizzard-like conditions, the first ever DIY night at Mars was a nice little success! Leslie of Urbanestics organized some fun projects to get our creative juices flowing.

In addition to making wall pockets from album covers, there was an activity where we extracted interesting words from old books and jumbled them up to create unique phrases. We also assembled collages to tie in with our impromptu poetry.

This was my final project:

My favorite and innocent, extraordinary diamond lingered with virulent friz and it was astonishing.

The next DIY Night will be on Tuesday, January 27th. Same bat time. Same bat channel.

Love Lula

Created for people of the world who love fashion, music, art, & make believe. Lula is gentle, whimsical and ethereal in tone, mixing high fashion to fall in love with and interviews that feel like late night chats with people you wish you knew.

And if that's not enough for you, there is the Lula Magazine Facebook group that includes more pictures than what's just on the website. Which I will have to resort to for now...

Happy 2009!

Photo featured on DesignBoom blog.

Sure, I'm a few days late. I've been putting off my first blog of the year for lack of knowing what to post...a Best of Year? Resolutions for 2009?

This blustery Iowa winter has kept me from being ultra productive in the re-vamped vintage home decor department, but I'll have loads of new items available as the snow gradually melts.

Until then, the Etsy Shop is OPEN with merch also available at Vitae Design Collective in downtown Des Moines.
