Graystitch Bibdannas & Giveaway!

One of my absolute FAVORITE things about baby apparel are "bibdannas". I've only really noticed them since having our son, otherwise Ruby would've been rocking them at Sterling's age. I tried making my own once and failed so, SO miserably.

Graystitch was initially created as a desperate solution to drool. Sewing enthusiast & momtrepreneur, Jaime Tessman, had purchased many different bibdannas online, never finding one that met all of her needs. Her journey to construct the perfect bibdanna evolved into an Etsy business which has since branched out to include bows, ties, diaper covers, bags, & bunting.

The bibdannas that Sterling is wearing are not only super cute, but have also proved to be quite durable. They've withstood the trials my son has put them through as well as surviving a trip through the wash. We love that both of these bibs can be worn reversible, too. So it's almost like getting a 2 for 1 deal, right?

I'm giving one lucky reader a chance to win this ADORABLE set of bibdannas (which could be considered unisex). Simply comment about the cutie you plan on having sport these! You'll even get an extra entry for Twitter or Instagram shout-outs by using the hashtag #soZealousforGraystitch.

Contest closes on Sunday, July 20th at Midnight. Winner will be announced here on Monday, July 21st.

Don't forget to visit Graystitch on Etsy! And use the promo code "BLOG10" to get 10% off at checkout.

Best of luck, friends!!

I'm with the band.

80/35, Des Moines' burgeoning indie-rock music festival, fell upon us this past weekend. Since Parlours were on the bill this year, we had access to all the stage areas with these nifty little passes.

The last time my husband's band performed at 80/35, I was at the hospital down the street giving birth to Ruby! Of all seven years of the festival, that one was the only time we ever missed (but for good reason, I must say).

We brought the kids along on Day 2, mainly to see Daddy play the drums. Ruby felt pretty special getting to wear the band lanyard, as anyone would.

Watching our friends in the Envy Corps perform on the main stage.

I love that the kids can splash around in these water features while the whole family can listen to some jams.

Here, Sterling is wearing the same Threadless dinosaur onesie that Ruby wore two 80/35's ago. There's just something about it that screams "music festival". The adorable space-themed bibdanna was lovingly sewn by our friend at Graystitch. Keep an eye out for more of where that came from in the coming weeks!

Parlours doing their thang.

Ruby, so sweetly, remarked that her Daddy was doing a good job while watching him play. Heart melt.

We enjoyed performances from Dawes, Maids, Max Jury, Surfer Blood, Envy Corps, & Dr. Dog this year. The best part of the fest though is the community surrounding it. I could always find of group of friends at every show to hang out with or get some help with the kids. We love 80/35!!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Ruby!

I can & can't believe we have a 3 year old now. It feels like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital...but it's also hard to imagine a time when Ruby (or Sterling) wasn't around. Just one of those weird, parental time-space continuum sort of things. Like the whole thing about life flying by even faster when you have kids...? Well, it's true.

We thought it would be super fun this year for Ruby to go on a camel ride at the zoo for her birthday. Our family has a membership this year, so it's not uncommon to swing by to see the animals for a bit. We don't always partake in the extra special, paid activities though.

As I look a this photo, I see a Mom setting the birthday bar a little high. Admitting it is the first step, right?

After the zoo, we had a small birthday dinner & celebration with our immediate families at home. We decided that until Ruby is old enough to invite her own friends, we'd avoid the drama of forgetting to invite somebody.

I was fortunate that Sara's baby shower was just a few days prior, so my house was still relatively clean and I was able to carry over some of the party decor.

Happy Birthday, dear girl. You make our lives so very sweet. Hope this is your best year yet! xx
